Last week, I was back in Brighton to resume my role as co-chair of the CASE Europe Social Media and Community Conference and, yet again, it proved itself to be one of the very best sector social media events of the year.

With absolutely loads of help from my co-chair Marie-Rose Delauzun, and CASE’s Sophie Anderton, we pulled together a really awesome bill of speakers – even if I do say so myself!

Now that the light at the end of the long tunnel that is January is in sight, it’s time to look forward to the Spring and one of the highlights of my professional calendar – the CASE Europe Social Media and Community Conference.

 Of course, I’m lucky enough to be co-chair of this awesome event – so I do have something of a vested interest. However, I’m genuinely excited about this year’s lineup and would love for plenty of you to join us in Brighton from 30-31 March.

Last week I was lucky enough to be one of the presenters at the Engaging Youth conference in London. I was speaking about Instagram and some of the things we’ve learnt using it at the University of Warwick.

As well as doing my speaking bit, I was also able to to hear most of the other sessions from the day – here’s a few things I took away from a busy conference.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of heading down to that London to speak at the latest Discovering Futures event – a day focussed on using social media for student recruitment. My session was about Instagram (surprise, surprise!) and seemed to go well…thanks to those who sat in on it!

Last week saw more than 80 higher education folk descend on Brighton for the 2016 Case Europe Social Media and Community Conference, an event I co-chaired for the first time. Despite having confidence in the schedule my co-chair Steven den Boer and I had put together, I was definitely a bit nervous as we kicked things off on Thursday morning; would all the speakers be ok, would the technology work and, most importantly, would our delegates get as much value and knowledge from the conference as possible?

In just over six weeks, I’ll be co-chairing this year’s CASE Europe Social Media and Community Conference in Brighton with my Dutch friend and fellow rocker Steven Den Boer and I’d love to see you there too! From 31 March – 1 April we’ll get through loads of learning, make loads of new friends and, if last year is anything to go by, eat lots of great food.
